Marcus shook his head, "No." Vorenus looked down at Quintus and sighed, shaking his head, "I know not of what this is... Only that he needs to live," Quintus' breathing was slow, ragged and his heart beat decreasing in beat as time wore on
Daniel drove as fast as he could before he finally reached the base. He wasted as time as possible in getting her to the infirmary

Lam sighed heavily. "Where the hell has this come from then?" She was totally puzzled by this outbreat... and outbreak that so far consisted of just two people; the airman and Quintus. It seemed to be a rather selective one if that was the case. "Ok.... I'm gonna need a medical history on this guy and also both of you." She began to explain. "Something has taken down one of our airmen that was escorting you a lot, and we have no idea what it is. At first we thought it might have been something that you brought through that you might not have known about cause you were immune to it... but that does not appear to be the case any more."
A nurse quickly entered the room. "Doctor Jackson's returned, he's in the elevator on his way down with a patient.. his friend has it too."
Again Lam sighed heavily..... that was three that now had it... one who had contact with Vorenus, one of Vorenus' men and a civilian who had obviously got it through contact with Daniel who appeared to be just fine.

Vorenus nodded, "We'll submit to what you need. If we brought this... whatever it is... through, it's possible more of my people are suffering it as well."
"But Sir.."
"That's an order, Marcus," Vorenus replied in a tone that brooked no argument though he was aware of his man's dislike of being inspected and questioned by others. Marcus was a strange one but was a good soldier.
"Yes Sir"
He was concerned that this was affecting his people just as much as it appeared to be affecting Dr. Lam's people. He sighed heavily and rubbed his face a moment as a nurse entered and spoke about Dr. Jackson.

Having heard of Daniel's return, the General made his way back down to the infirmary. With his hands in his pockets he stood next to his friend, looking at the woman that nurses were now seeing to, hooking her up to machines and dealing with her head wound. "She's a pretty girl." He finally spoke and watched as a blood sample was withdrawn from the recently inserted cannula in her elbow.
Lam looked between the two of the Roman's watching as the one that was obviously the subordinate was ordered to give the details. "I can assure you, anything you say to us will remain between us. It's called Doctor Patient Confidentiality. And unless you say so, things will never be repeated to anyone." She tried to explain, not knowing how advanced their medical system might be and trying to get some sort of friendliness towards their guests., hoping to ease their nervousness.

Daniel nodded slowly from where he was, hands in his pockets with slumped shoulders. Knowing he had passed it on, albeit unwittingly and unknowingly, wasn't sitting well, "Yeah."
Vorenus' hands paused and stilled to his chin that had begun to show beard growth, "It's not that," he replied, "For some reason, he doesn't like being touched by such pretty orderlies." Marcus blushed bright red and glared at Vorenus when the man wasn't looking. There was clearly some issue Marcus had but one that Vorenus didn't understand.

Lam sighed slightly, knowing she had another patient to attend do. "If you'll excuse me. I need to go and see to another patient. But I will be with you shortly." She turned and left the room returning to the main room where the airman and Taryn were lying on beds, both unconscious. She glanced at Daniel and then moved to Taryn's bedside, looking over the medical charts that had already been filled out. "I really wish I knew what this thing was." She muttered, partly to herself, but also partly to Doctor Jackson and General O'Neill.
"Do you have anything at all to say about this?" the General queried.
Carolyn stood up straight after glancing over a couple of things. "Initial blood tests show that anyone who has had direct contact with our three guests is a carrier of whatever this thing is, that we're still trying to work out what. Why out of, what fifteen people, only one is a guest, one has come into direct contact, and Miss Donovan here being what I can only call secondary transfer... only three people have come down with it? I would have expected a lot more by now." She paused to think and then looked at Jack. "Airman McGee transferred here recently didn't he?"
Jack scratched the side of his head as he nodded his head. "Err.... yeah... just two weeks ago. First transfer for what, eight months?"
Things were starting to fall into place. "That could explain why not many others have come down with this... everyone else has been here long enough to have had inoculations and developed an immunity to such things. Donovan and McGee haven't been exposed to these sorts of threats at all."

Vorenus nodded and stayed with their downed man as did Marcus. They were all worried. The implications this meant for these people was one thing. The implications back home was somthing entirely and he growled vehemently, his fist punching into the side of the wall. The wall wasn't harmed but his knuckles showed the brunt of it. "Sir?"
"I should have done more," he said quietly despite knowing there wasn't much he could do against this unseen enemy but the fact one of his men was down with it plus those of these people, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.
Jack nodded slowly and scowled when he heard something thump against a wall. He glanced a moment before peering back, "The chances of that changing? Virus' mutate right?" They had all been through the Ori saga long enough to all know that by now. If that happened, they would need to work with Vorenus' people more and see if there was an answer to this if Doctor Lam could not procure her own solution to it.

"Sometimes, but not always." She replied. Medicine was a complicated subject. She turned and looked at one of the nurses. "Hey, Maggie, would you please start our three patients on a high inoculation regime..... actually make it five... get Vorenus and Marcus up on them as well and hopefully prevent them from coming down with this."
"Yes Doctor." Maggie nodded and headed off to the store room.
Jack looked at Daniel. He had been usually quiet through this whole thing and that bothered him. "You ok, Daniel? Anything you wanna talk about?"

daniel glanced at him and sighed, "Wish we knew about this before she got infected," he frowned as he thought. With three Romans around that, if she woke and spoke to them, the game would up pretty quickly. It presented complications, that and the fact she had said she was thinking of going to investigate the Giza site didn't help matters. Jack had to know and he sighed heavily, he reached up and scratched the bridge of his nose in his usual fashion when he was trying to phrase something.
"So... here's the interesting thing about her," he began, gaining that raised brow of intrigue, "Her grandfather was at the Giza site when the Stargate was dug up,"

Jack's expression remained pretty neutral, but he gently pulled Daniel over to one side all the same. it was a well known fact that people in comas or unconscious could still hear what was going on around them. This little chat had to be handled delicately. "What exactly does she know about it?"

"Well, she'd recogise the stargate if she saw it, oput it that way," he replied, "She knows it was in Giza, and I think she wants to find out more about her grandfather and what he had to do with it"

Jack sighed heavily and reached forward, pulling off the three Velcro patches from Daniel's uniform. "She can't know, Daniel, she's a civilian, she can't know of it's existence." He said as he put the patches into one of Daniel's jacket pockets. And then did the same for his three patches. She could wake up at any moment, although it seemed to be unlikely.
Maggie soon came back from the store room and began administering the inoculations to McGee. Lam took three of the doses from her and returned to their guests. "I hope you gentlemen don't mind needles." She said as she first of began with Quintus, injecting the stuff through his cannula.

"I know," he replied, he knew well the reason why she couldn't know
Vorenus watched and waited before their doctor returned and he shook his head, "We've all been stitched up before," he replied

She nodded her head and moved to Vorenus. "What I'm about to inject you with is a variety of different drugs. It's something that eventually all new staff here get. We think this might be why only three people so far have come down with this infliction." She began to explain as she rolled up Vorenus' sleeve and get the syringe ready. "Hopefully this will prevent the two of you from coming down with it." She inserted the needle into Vorenus' arm and injection the substance into his bloodstream. "Do keep any eye out for any side affects. This is the first time that we've ever had to do this in one go. So keep a close watch on yourselves." She added and injected the next syringe into Vorenus. With his dose done she moved to Marcus.
Jack patted Daniel's shoulder. "This isn't your fault." He said, knowing that his good friend was feeling responsible for Taryn's condition. He could see it in the archaeologist's eyes, something that he had gotten quite good at seeing. "So, how do you know that the Stargate is the dig her grandfather was involved in?" He queried, curious to know more about what the woman actually knew, and how she knew it.

The 'sleeve' was something Vorenus had to undo as it was a wrist guard. The actual sleeve to his tune was too short for the need. He watched with a steadfast raptness that made it clear he had been note-taking every detail. However, this much was expected of someone of his rank. He hardly even winced as she inserted the needle into his arm in opposition to the elbow joint where healing was always quickest. Once she was done, he flexed his arm, his muscles tensing as he held it in place, the movement instinctual. "Then its best we remain here, " he nodded with a smile but he was still worried. Not just for the lives of his men in the immediate space around him but for those back on his world. if this affected his people too, there was no telling what he would find upon his return home.
Daniel nodded, "Still feels like it Jack," he replied, shoulders slumping further before one shifted in his effort to to remove his cell phone from his pocket. He accessed it and shifted through the controls before he brought up an image he had surreptitiously taken of the photograph he had been shown by Taryn before. There the stargate stood with her grandfather before it. "See for yourself," he showed Jack the image on his phone.

Jack watched with intrigue as Daniel pulled out his phone and passed it to him. There on the screen was the photo that Taryn always displayed on her bookcase with pride. "I thought all photographic evidence of this thing from back then was destroyed?"
Carolyn nodded her head in agreement. "I know it's not ideal, but it would be best, yes. Just let us know if there's anything you need." She then turned to Marcus. "Ready for your dose?"

"Obviously not," Daniel replied, "Which leads one to wonder.... What else is out there with this knowledge? I've said I'd help her but ultimately i wanna know who her grandfather was and what he has to do with the stargate and such"
"Wouldn't be the first time I've been confined to bed, miss," Vorenus nodded before he moved away and sat on a spare, giving marcus a look when it was the man's turn.
"Uh, no, yes, sure," Marcus nodded, doing the same as Vorenus had done, "Sorry," he blushed again, bright beetroot in colour and made Vorenus smirk again.

Carolyn just smiled and once he had removed the necessary armour she gave him the two injections. "Remember, no matter how small you think it might be, keep an eye out for side effects."
"Let's hope it's the only one out there." He looked over to the bed as he returned Daniel's cell to his hands. "She'll be fine." He said as he started to move off and entered the room where the Romans were. He waited for Lam to leave before he began to speak. "How are you two feeling?"

"we will, thank you," Vorenus nodded and Marcus nodded too as he rubbed the injection site..
"I hope so," he repiled before the man moved off and glanced the roman's way a moment.
Marcus looked at the General and blushed more brightly turning away causing Vorenus to scowl darkly from where he sat, "Been better, udner the circumstances... Had we known..." he trailed off, this level of medical availability wasn't something his people had. He could compare this with their own and he realised for all their advancements, they were far behind. "I don't suppose we have news yet? About our world?" a man could fish....

Vorenus nodded slowly, "You have our gratitude General. I know it's not easy nor deserved, especially in light of all this... " he sighed and rubbed his face. He looked up with a deep look that all men of war and battle would recognise, "No, unless it has a stiff drink to do with it."
"Wouldn't mind a dice board, Sir. You know, to pass the time," Marcus piped up.
Vorenus glanced at him before he sighed and nodded, relenting, "I suppose the lad has the right of it."

Jack nodded her head. "Sure, I'll get some lads to bring some games down for you. Clue is one of my personal favourites. As for the stiff drink, I'll check with Doctor Lam. Don't want the alcohol to interfere with all of this."

"I'll make sure it's there and you can read the rules." he replied, knowing that explaining games was not his forte. He glanced to the bed where Quintus was lying unconscious and then back to the other two. "Keep your finger's crossed that Doctor Lam can get this whole thing sorted out quickly."

Vorenus nodded and sighed, "Always" he looked at Quintus and felt bad. The man had been through a lot under his command and he knew he had put the men through a lot in recent months. The cost of getting here was too high.

The General was about to say something more when warning alarms began to sound. Turning he left the room and returned to where nurses were rushing to Doctor Donovan's bedside.
"Get the defibrillator, now!" Lam ordered as she looked at the monitors and began to rush around, shining a light in Taryn's eyes. Nurses rushed in, pushing the defribrillator on a trolley to the side. Quickly placing the pads on the woman's chest Lam grabbed the paddles. "Charge to one twenty!" She ordered and the sound of the machine charging up could be heard. "Clear!" Everyone backed off, ensuring they weren't touching her and the paddles were placed against her and a shock sent through her body. They looked at the monitors but they remained at their constant tone. There was still no heartbeat.

Vorenus blinked as an loud noise sounded, one that even he recognised to be one of alarm. he glanced at Marcus before he moved towards the doorway to watch, his rugged features frowning in concern. IF this was happening to one of their people it could very well happen to his man. He bit his lip, the situation he was in was getting wildly out of his depth.
"Again!" Lam nodded before the paddles were charged again, "Clear!" and she tried again.

Taryn's body arched with the shock and everyone looked at the monitor. Jack glanced to Daniel and could see the worry that was on the man's face. Taryn was a complete innocent in all of this.
"Charge to three sixty this time!" Lam ordered, boosting the charge as they worked desperately to get a heartbeat back. "Clear!" The charge went through her body and it arched again even more as it was stronger.
Everyone's eyes went to the monitor and after a few heart stopping moments of still hearing the long beep and the straight line the blips came back and a steady beat began again. Doctor Lam sighed heavily in relief. "We've got her back." She announced to everyone and turned to look at General O'Neill and Doctor Jackson. "We've got her back." She repeated. "We'll try an find out what happened there, it could be anything, from the way this virus works, or even to an allergy she might have with one of the injections we gave her earlier." She paused for a second. "Allergies." That had suddenly given her an idea.
"Doctor?" Jack queried, looking as puzzled as he normal did.
"Maybe that's why this virus seems so selective... Antihistamines. We've seen it before, viruses unable to cope with antihistamines." She replied, referencing the mission early on in the programme's days that had turned some of the inhabitants of a planet into prehistoric humans.

The general before he glanced back meeting the eyes of Vorenus. The two men seemed to reach a level of unspoken understand, "I'm gathering that's maybe a help in someways Doctor... Work with Vorenus, see if his, uh, bloodwork has anything to offer, along with his other subordinate." The fact only one of the three had succumbed to whatever this was, well, it was puzzling and perhaps the Centurion realised this.
