"We hope the same, and Command permitting, we'll do what we can. You just have to sit tight and hold on in the meantime,"
Vorenus nodded at Daniel before the Airmen distracted him. Blue eyes watched the man enter, whisper and then leave before the blonde woman spoke. He sighed and nodded, "Thank you," he breathed deeply and got to his feet. "If there's anything we can do to help whilst we're here, labour, whatever... let us know,"

Sam shook her head. "We certainly don't force our guests to work." She got to her feet and pushed away from the table heading for the door where another airman had already opened it, waiting for them to leave. "Just follow us."

"No..." he said slowly, "We just like to be kept busy, be dangerous on morale to sit around doing nothing and I have my men to think about," but he followed her all the same.

"Unfortunately there won't be much for you to do except just sit and wait." Sam replied as she led them down the corridor round a few bends, down more corridors till they arrived at the guest quarters. Vorenus' other two men had already been escorted to the room. "This is it." She said, walking in, showing him what was being offered.
It was a spacious room with three beds, furniture, some clean clothes folded on the chairs by each bed. Sitting in the middle was a large round table with a fruit bowl in the middle filled with fruit, and a jug of water with glasses just to one side.
Sam turned to look at the leader again. "I'll see what I can do about letting you see your horses. If you need anything, just knock to get the guards attention."

He sighed, "Is there at least a place we can work out, do our drills. I don't know about your people. I wish I knew you better but my men, sitting by and aiting... it won't help take things off their minds. They're not going to be happy with what I have to ask of them. Letting them vent through practice drills would help a lot," he said as they walked.
"Thank you... " he returned as the other two looked up when the door opened. Their reaction was immediate, both stood up attentively.
Vorenus glanced at the guards for a moment, it was still a cage but a less obvious one, Still, it was better than being dead and unable to stop what happened to his world from happening to this world. Or Cimmeria. Cimmeria.
"Can you do me a favour?" he asked, getting her attention again before he stepped inside, "Can you warn Gairwyn. Her people should be warned. Let her know at least some survived," his voice broke towards the end. Having to maintain a strength when he had been grieving for his own personal loss was a tough ride. He wasn't sure how many had survived, if any.

Sam nodded her head. "I don't see any problem with letting you go to one of the larger training rooms to do drills. When you do feel like going, just ask the guards to lead you there. Take as long as you want. Also if you want anything to make this room feel a little more like home, ask and we'll see what we can do for you."
"Can you warn Gairwyn?"
Again the Lieutenant Colonel nodded her head. "We will. She's a good friend of ours. What did you say your planet was called?"

"Thanks," Lucius nodded, last thing anyone would want was three antsy men not knowing what to do with themselves over the next week or so.
"Roma Praetoria" he replied softly, nodding with affirmation of the name, though he held little hope that there were any survivors. The bombardment had been total as far as he knew. "Mention my name, she'll know."

Sam nodded her head slowly. "Roma Praetoria." She repeated the name to make sure she would be able to remember it, and to show Vorenus that she was listening. "The moment we know anything, we'll let you know." She turned to leave, glancing at Daniel, a little surprised that he had remained silent for so long. She would have expected him to be asking question after question. "And I'll let you know about the horses." She added, turning to look at the Roman briefly before leaving the room. Once the two members of SG-1 had left, one of the guards closed the door behind them. The door remained unlocked, showing good faith to their visitors, and trust, showing they were willing to trust them with an unlocked door. Sam was pretty confident that with no where to go that the three men wouldn't try anything, not on a world or a place they knew nothing of.
She sighed slightly, and looked at Daniel as they walked down the corridor. "Well... everyone will certainly be holding their breaths while they wait for Daedalus to reach the planet. I'll let you know if anything important happens." She then patted Daniel on the arm. "Catch you later, and have a good evening if I don't see you before you leave."

Lucius only nodded before the door was closed, there was no sound of any key being turned. Did these people even use keys? He couldn't be sure, apart from the fact they looked similarly people wise, nothing was familiar. He turned to the others who were testing out the beds, both bouncing on the mattresses somewhat. He sat on the other, thinking of his wife and inadvertently of the one who had pinched his medallion. It was very odd how similar the two women looked.
Daniel could see the man was getting weary and was still experiencing what must have been fatigue despite looking none worse for wear. He wondered for a long moment before he blinked and checked the time, pulling back a cuff with a forefinger.
"Yes, I will be too... Whoever this new bad guy is... he means business," and he didn't want Earth being targeted for the same fate as Roma Praetoria, which coincidentally was a place back in Italy. "Oh, yes, thanks. See you Sam," he nodded before he left.
A few hours later and at the appointed time, he was pulling up outside her house. He got out the car and headed up for the door, pressing the buzzer. He was dressed in simple fair and he glanced about as he waited for her to answer the door.

"The door's open!" Taryn's voice called from within. She was moving around, doing a few last minute chores. "Make yourself at home, I'll be done in a minute." She added as she carefully placed a framed photograph on the bookshelf. She stepped back to check it was in a good position before moving into the kitchen.
The photo that was now on display was in black an white, a group of five men standing together in one corner. The rest of the picture was filled with a large circular object standing upright in the sand, and in the background, one of the great pyramids of Giza could be seen.
"Have you had a good day?" She queried as she tidied away the last few pieces of crockery that were on the draining board by the sink.

He heard her voice and entered through the door, closing it neatly behind him. He eventually found her, puttering about with what seemed like chores. Trivial thins that bore little meaning except for a routine of the mundane. He nodded softly as he waited, wandering around the room, stopping to look at the odd thing she had around.
"Oh, quite long, tiring but ah, insightful," he replied, frowning for the briefest of moments as he thought of Vorenus and the implications of his plea for help before he nodded and smiled.
"How about you?"

She turned to Daniel, taking a few steps towards him, a grin forcing it's way onto her face as she tried to stay calm, but finding it extremely difficult. "You are now looking at Doctor Taryn Donovan, with a Ph.D. in Archaeology." She replied, revealing that her presentation had gone very well and after all her hard work she had achieved her first goal... to become a doctor. "With big thanks to you, Daniel." She acknowledged his help, well if he hadn't helped last night then she would never have gotten it, she'd still be standing in front of all the big professors and directors with not much to say, making a right fool of herself... Thankfully that had not been the case today, and she was certainly showing how proud she was.

Daniel grinned back and moved towards her, "Well, that's great news! Congratulations," he nodded, genuinely glad that she had made it through. "Thanks, it's always nice to know there are more people doing the course. It's not as popular as it once was," for many reasons and he was sure that if ever the Stargate was brought to truth for the wider people, than it may bring the subject back under the spotlight. "You ready? I got a table all booked,"

"Ready." She nodded before moving to the sofa where her handbag sat. She turned back to Daniel and smiled softly. "I know if my grandfather were alive today he'd be proud. It's because of him that I wanted to become an archaeologist." She pointed to the photo she had placed on the table. "He was part of a team that dug up that object back in 1928."

"Yes, I think he most definitely would be," he nodded, looking to the photograph recognising what the object was but he said nothing in recognition of it. She wasn't part of the program so he couldn't spill the beans, no matter how good it would be to having someone actually understand the relavance of what he said instead of pulling faces of faith and blankness. It made him grateful to have known Jack, Sam and Teal'c. "Yeah, that must have been something quite special,"
"Come on, let's go, or we'll be late,"

She nodded her head and made for the door. "What got you interested in archaeology?" She queried, hooking the strap of her blue bag over her shoulder.

He followed her on out, "Hm? Oh, my parents and uncle, mostly. My parents used to travel places around the world finding new treasures and I usually went wherever they did. It's in the blood, you could say"

She smiled again as they walked side by side to Daniel's car. "So, we both have families that got us interested in our jobs." She mused aloud. "I wonder what else we have in common?"

Far more than she realised, he thought as they move towards his car, a respectable vehicle for someone in his position. He unlocked it as he moved to open the door for her. "Well, if your study is anywhere near as cluttered as mine, we're on the right track,"

She laughed out loud and jumped into the passenger's side seat, pulling the seat belt over her right shoulder and clicking it into place. "So, where are we going?"

Daniel smiled softly before moving to get into the driver's seat, "Oh, now that would be telling," he replied grinning before starting the car, putting it into gear, releasing the handbrake and looking before he pulled out to drive on down the road.

She looked at him, slightly bemused. She'd only known him for a day and already he was taking her out to dinner? She had really only been expecting to go out to a bar and have a couple of drinks to celebrate, not a meal. "Surprised you're not blindfolding me as well then." She smiled, and made herself comfortable, taking her phone out of her bag for a moment to turn it off before putting it away again. Not many people ever needed to call her, but still she didn't want the evening to be interrupted at all.

Whilst Daniel did drink, he did it so rarely that he knew his system wasn't exactly used to it and considering that he often went off world, then having too much would hardly help. He eventually found the place he was looking for, where he and the rest of his friends usually went for meals out or just to drink. He pulled into a space. "Here we are,"

Her eyes glanced to the restaurant as she began to unbuckle herself and got out. "I've heard this place is good, but never had the chance to go myself." She stated, looking over her shoulder to Daniel.

She picked up the drinks menu and glanced through it. "As you are driving I'll start with something non alcoholic.... Pineapple and soda, please." She placed the menu back down on the table.

He smiled nodding, drinking for him was never a strong suit and normally because he was a lightweight when it came to alcohol so he was just as happy with a soda as she seemed to be. A t least initially. He flagged down a waitress who nodded as he spoke what they wanted. She told them that she'd be right back with their drinks and to take their order.
"See anything you like?"

She nodded her head, keeping her eyes on the menu for the time being. "It all looks good, I can't decide what the go for." She replied and finally closed the menu placing it on the table in front of her and then leaned on it, crossing her arms on top of it. "Why don't you choose for me, surprise me. I'm willing to try anything, not fussed at all, and tonight is a celebration after all, I'm up for anything." Taryn suggested with a small smile on her face. "As you've been here before I shall defer to your expertise."
